One of my goals for this blog is to improve my writing, and as the few people who have read it can tell you, it shouldn't take much. After weighing various ideas, I decided on one of the well-worn tropes of bloggers: episode recaps. One of the reasons it has become so common is it's a perfect format for someone starting out: you have shared material to discuss, the pieces don't have to always be long, and (most importantly), it forces you to write as often as you watch a show you like.
This decided, I had one problem: I very rarely watch current episodes of even the most popular shows. I normally wait a season or two to make sure the show is either 1) going to continue 2) going to be given a chance to wrap the series up properly or 3) not going to turn into a flaming turd after a very promising first season (see Killing, The). Since I am always working through a backlog, it will be a long time before I catch up to most series; Breaking Bad was really the only one I got current on, and that was only because it become so huge.
As it happens, I am currently going through The Walking Dead at three to five episodes per week. Given the multiple story lines and fairly robust characters and relationships, I think it's a pretty decent series for recaps, so it won the nod. To give it some sort of format, I'm going to make at least two predictions during each recap: one for the next episode, and one for the remainder of the season. I'll review the former during the next recap, and at the end of each season, I'll go back and see how I did with the entire season
If you have never watched The Walking Dead, I suggest you refrain from reading any of the recaps; since I start in early season three, you would be spoiling over two seasons of a very good show. If you are current on the series, feel free to laugh at my bad predictions.
